Job Description

The financial accountant role is responsible for month end reporting, statutory accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, internal controls, tax, company secretariat and further ad-hoc tasks.

The role is supported by the Finance Excellence Centre (FEC) in Maidenhead (UK) and the Global Transaction Centre (GTC) in Manila.

 

Responsibilities;

Accounting & Reporting:

- Responsible for monthly and annual business reporting including profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow (management and statutory accounts)

- Book all month end journals and generate SAP reports to review and analyze month end numbers.

- Manage the external audit and act as key liaison point throughout.

Controls:

- Coordinate compliance to internal controls across the Irish business.

- Complete assessment of control environment and report result to head office.

Business Partnering:

- Responsible for control of indirect and customer service/ logistics costs working with local and UK team to ensure targets are reached.

- Prepare and maintain the OWC forecast for the year by working with Sales team (receivables) and marketing teams (payables) to ensure Ireland meets JDE targets.

- Communicate and agree recharges with the UK and Central teams.

Treasury:

- Liaise with central treasury regarding cash pooling.

- Manage local bank accounts with support of GTC team.

Tax:

- Prepare local VAT returns on JDE inhouse system.

- Responsible for submitting tax returns to Irish Revenue.

- Manage the relationship with external tax partner PwC in completing the corporation tax return.

Company Secretarial:

- Responsible for filing the statutory accounts and returns as required by local regulations in Ireland.

Commercial Finance:

- Prepare quarterly trade investment reconciliations to SAP & highlight potential opportunities and risks.

- Work closely with Revenue Management team on strategy & investment.

Ad hoc:

- Manage the relationship with our 3rd party stakeholder “Greenstreet” by obtaining and supplying packaging information on timely basis to ensure abide by Ireland legislation on recycling (Packaging Return).

For this role as a financial accountant, we’re looking for someone who has the following:

Education:

  • Finance/Accounting/Business Degree (or equivalent)
  • Fully Qualified Accountant

Desirable Skills:

  • SAP R/3 experience
  • Commercial finance knowledge
  • FMCG experience preferable (but not necessary)

The Financial Accountant will report to the Financial Controller and this team will be responsible for business partnering, decision-making & supporting all functions across the Retail and Professional sectors.
